1:2ThusspeakeththeLORDofhosts，saying，Thispeoplesay，Thetimeisnote，thetimethattheLORDshouseshouldbebuilt.

1:3ThencamethewordoftheLORDbyHaggaitheprophet，saying，

1:4Isittimeforyou，Oye，todwellinyourcieledhouses，andthishouseliewaste?

1:5NowthereforethussaiththeLORDofhosts;Consideryourways.

1:6Yehavesownmuch，andbringinlittle;yeeat，butyehavenotenough;yedrink，butyearenotfilledwithdrink;yeclotheyou，butthereisnonewarm;andhethatearnethwagesearnethwagestoputitintoabagwithholes.

1:7ThussaiththeLORDofhosts;Consideryourways.

1:8Gouptothemountain，andbringwood，andbuildthehouse;andIwilltakepleasureinit，andIwillbeglorified，saiththeLORD.

1:9Yelookedformuch，and，loitcametolittle;andwhenyebroughtithome，Ididblowuponit.Why?saiththeLORDofhosts.Becauseofminehousethatiswaste，andyeruneverymanuntohisownhouse.

1:10Thereforetheheavenoveryouisstayedfromdew，andtheearthisstayedfromherfruit.

1:11AndIcalledforadroughtupontheland，anduponthemountains，anduponthecorn，anduponthenewwine，andupontheoil，anduponthatwhichthegroundbringethforth，anduponmen，anduponcattle，anduponallthelabourofthehands.

1:12ThenZerubbabelthesonofShealtiel，andJoshuathesonofJosedech，thehighpriest，withalltheremnantofthepeople，obeyedthevoiceoftheLORDtheirGod，andthewordsofHaggaitheprophet，astheLORDtheirGodhadsenthim，andthepeopledidfearbeforetheLORD.

1:13ThenspakeHaggaitheLORDsmessengerintheLORDsmessageuntothepeople，saying，Iamwithyou，saiththeLORD.

1:14AndtheLORDstirredupthespiritofZerubbabelthesonofShealtiel，governorofJudah，andthespiritofJoshuathesonofJosedech，thehighpriest，andthespiritofalltheremnantofthepeople;andtheycameanddidworkinthehouseoftheLORDofhosts，theirGod，

1:15Inthefourandtwentiethdayofthesixthmonth，inthesecondyearofDariustheking.

2:1Intheseventhmonth，intheoneandtwentiethdayofthemonth，camethewordoftheLORDbytheprophetHaggai，saying，

2:2SpeaknowtoZerubbabelthesonofShealtiel，governorofJudah，andtoJoshuathesonofJosedech，thehighpriest，andtotheresidueofthepeople，saying，

2:3Whoisleftamongyouthatsawthishouseinherfirstglory?andhowdoyeseeitnow?isitnotinyoureyesinparisonofitasnothing?

2:4Yetnowbestrong，OZerubbabel，saiththeLORD;andbestrong，OJoshua，sonofJosedech，thehighpriest;andbestrong，allyepeopleoftheland，saiththeLORD，andwork:forIamwithyou，saiththeLORDofhosts:

2:5AccordingtothewordthatIcovenantedwithyouwhenyecameoutofEgypt，somyspiritremainethamongyou:fearyenot.

2:6ForthussaiththeLORDofhosts;Yetonce，itisalittlewhile，andIwillshaketheheavens，andtheearth，andthesea，andthedryland;

2:7AndIwillshakeallnations，andthedesireofallnationsshalle:andIwillfillthishousewithglory，saiththeLORDofhosts.

2:8Thesilverismine，andthegoldismine，saiththeLORDofhosts.

2:9Thegloryofthislatterhouseshallbegreaterthanoftheformer，saiththeLORDofhosts:andinthisplacewillIgivepeace，saiththeLORDofhosts.

2:10Inthefourandtwentiethdayoftheninthmonth，inthesecondyearofDarius，camethewordoftheLORDbyHaggaitheprophet，saying，

2:11ThussaiththeLORDofhosts;Asknowthepriestsconcerningthelaw，saying，

2:12Ifonebearholyfleshintheskirtofhisgarment，andwithhisskirtdotouchbread，orpottage，orwine，oroil，oranymeat，shallitbeholy?Andthepriestsansweredandsaid，No.

2:13ThensaidHaggai，Ifonethatisuncleanbyadeadbodytouchanyofthese，shallitbeunclean?Andthepriestsansweredandsaid，Itshallbeunclean.

2:14ThenansweredHaggai，andsaid，Soisthispeople，andsoisthisnationbeforeme，saiththeLORD;andsoiseveryworkoftheirhands;andthatwhichtheyofferthereisunclean.

2:15Andnow，Iprayyou，considerfromthisdayandupward，frombeforeastonewaslaiduponastoneinthetempleoftheLORD:

2:16Sincethosedayswere，whenonecametoanheapoftwentymeasures，therewerebutten:whenonecametothepressfatfortodrawoutfiftyvesselsoutofthepress，therewerebuttwenty.

2:17Ismoteyouwithblastingandwithmildewandwithhailinallthelaboursofyourhands;yetyeturnednottome，saiththeLORD.

2:18Considernowfromthisdayandupward，fromthefourandtwentiethdayoftheninthmonth，evenfromthedaythatthefoundationoftheLORDstemplewaslaid，considerit.

2:19Istheseedyetinthebarn?yea，asyetthevine，andthefigtree，andthepomegranate，andtheolivetree，hathnotbroughtforth:fromthisdaywillIblessyou.

2:20AndagainthewordoftheLORDcameuntoHaggaiinthefourandtwentiethdayofthemonth，saying，

2:21SpeaktoZerubbabel，governorofJudah，saying，Iwillshaketheheavensandtheearth;

2:22AndIwilloverthrowthethroneofkingdoms，andIwilldestroythestrengthofthekingdomsoftheheathen;andIwilloverthrowthechariots，andthosethatrideinthem;andthehorsesandtheirridersshalledown，everyonebytheswordofhisbrother.

2:23Inthatday，saiththeLORDofhosts，willItakethee，OZerubbabel，myservant，thesonofShealtiel，saiththeLORD，andwillmaketheeasasignet:forIhavechosenthee，saiththeLORDofhosts.
